Raspberry Pi is an inexpensive compacted computer that plugs into a monitor and uses a keyboard and mouse. The Raspberry Pi is perfect for all ages and it’s great for someone new that is exploring computing. Its ease of use makes it a highly rated device. Many programs can be used on the Raspberry Pi, some include Python and Scratch. There are endless projects you can make with Raspberry Pi; the options are endless. The project I chose to do was the Volumio.

The Volumio is a headless music player. The Volumio allows you play all different kinds of music, from Spotify to Apple. It is designed for high-quality music playback. It gives you options to set the volume and change the sound of the music by modifying the bass, treble, etc.  The way it works is you need a monitor and WIFI. The Raspberry Pi will create its own hotspot, once you connect your device to that hotspot, you will be able to stream your music to the Pi. You need to have your own music account to log in and play your playlist. For example, I had to log onto my Spotify Premium to stream my playlist and play songs.

After installing the program, I began to hook up the raspberry pi to a monitor. Once I got everything hooked up, I then went to volumio.local. From there I was able to hook a hotspot up and stream my music to the monitor from the raspberry pi.

Going into this project I was very nervous. I am not a tech-savvy person, I struggle with logging into my computer sometimes. This project was easy to do, I was able to find a lot of information online which walked me through step by step on how to complete this project. I would recommend raspberry pi to anymore wanting to explore building a computer. Its ease of use was what I liked most about the project. Another thing I like was how you had endless options on what to do with your raspberry pi. You could make it into a game, security cam, smart mirror, Alexa, and many more other neat projects.
