The Raspberry Pi… where to start honestly. Today i’m gonna explain the steps and components I needed to transform this piece of technology. I changed this basic operating system into a the Retro Pie which is essentially an old school gaming system. Before starting the project though I had to retrieve the parts. My parts were included in the fee of my computer class, so i ran to the college library and asked for my parts. Afterwords I was able to open the box and see my component list.

  • The parts of this project included.
  • Raspberry Pi Computer system
  • Raspberry Pi Case
  • HDMI Cable
  • Micro USB Power supply
  • USB Reader
  • On/Off Switch
  • Mini Keyboard
  • Gaming Controllers
  • Monitor

However, I did substitute some of the parts provided in the Kit. The mini keyboard was to small and somewhat buggy when pressing certain buttons. So i ended up connecting a full-sized keyboard into my monitor. For the gaming controller Leading me to a PlayStation Four (Ps4) controller that could connect to my monitor. While it is not the exact one in the image it is the same model and brand. My monitor was continuously changing because I tried to find one that supported the raspberry pi best. First being, my laptop, smart T.V, and delta college computer monitor. I found the most efficient was the delta monitor, mainly because of the medium size showing everything I needed without being to overcrowding.

Explaining Problems- The problems I had with the Raspberry Pi while minuscule in the long-run definitely put a dent in my plans for the time being.

Problems with Project

Overall, this was a really neat project that I was given the opportunity to work on. While I definitely had my fair-share of problems when trying to get the system/program up and running whether it be actually setting the program up on my monitor or setting up the etcher program. They caught me more off-guard than I am willing to admit, but once getting through those hurtles it was actually a really fun project. It genuinely made me debate on buying my own version of one of these mini computers. Either way though, ill take this experience and use it on future ideas and projects in the future.
