I have decided to create an MP3 player out of the raspberry pi with the volumio program. I listen to music frequently so i figured this project best fit my interests. Not that the raspberry pi would become my primary source of listening to music but i was intrigued to learn that i could essentially make my own median for listening to music. Thus, i chose the volumio project.

To complete the project I went to Delta’s library and checked out the raspberry pi kit which came with all of the necessary components to complete the project. I used my laptop and an extra monitor i had at home to continue. Besides the physical components, i also used a spotify premium account loaned to me in order to complete the project. The project is do-able without the premium account but it always you to have more access to more features.

I’ve always been somewhat intrigued by computers so i spent a lot of time fiddling around with the gadgets by myself until something worked and led me in the correct direction. Once i got stuck though i went to Youtube and watched videos to get around any obstacles i came across. The videos i watched were helpful and well explained. I found it was much easier to watch videos than it was to read about people’s experiences.

I didn’t mind this project at all. It felt good to get the software running and being able to listen to music directly from the raspberry pi. The quality of the music was not bad at all and can probably be improved. I did have to re-flash the software a couple of times due to some unknown technical issues but other than that i would consider by Volumio project a success.
