My Weather Station

Have you ever wondered what the temperature is without using your phone or listening to the news?  If yes, then I have the project for you.  It’s called a Raspberry PI Weather Station.  I know you are asking yourself what is a Raspberry PI, because I asked myself the same question, and it’s not my favorite desert.  A Raspberry PI is a very small computer that you use coding for to do anything you really want.  My project was a weather station.

So I purchased a Raspberry PI, and a Sense Hat to read the weather, a keyboard and mouse, a internet cable, and a monitor my project.   I googled “How to Make a Weather Station” and a You Tube Video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnp6jo2XOU8 and step by step instructions popped up:  http://www.itpro.co.uk/hardware/31138/how-to-build-a-raspberry-pi-weather-station.  I followed the instructions and learned how to use python coding in one section and it was so cool to see my Raspberry PI light up and read the weather.  Now I just had to wait 10 minutes for it to upload to my Weather Underground Station.

My only dilemma with the whole project was that it currently reading my inside weather not outside because I did not realize I needed a special case for it to sit outside.  So if I were to do it again, I would purchase the outside unit so it could relay the weather for me!  I did have one downside to the project, I had to shut down the Raspberry PI one day and I realized the next time I plugged it in, I had to do the coding all over again, I felt that like any other computer this

should of been remembered and automatically went back to reading the weather, but all in all the project was very interesting and to note it’s currently a cool 65.3 degrees in my office.
