Did you ever play videos when you were younger that you might have forgotten about or gotten rid of and wanted to go back and try them out again, just to remember you no longer have it? I know I have, but with an opportunity presented to me through a project at school I was able to get a blast from the past.  The project I had to complete was to explore the potential of the Raspberry Pi and coding. I decided to look into the option of making mine into a retro gaming system known as a RetroPie. The goal is to learn how to set up this system and learn to overcome obstacles that will challenge our skills. At the end, if the person is successful he or she is able to get enjoyment and fun through the experience of old retro games.

In order to complete my project there were a few things required. I needed a HDMI cable, the Raspberry Pi, a monitor, a PS3 controller, raspberry pi case, USB micro SD card reader, Micro USB power cable, micro USB converter, and a USB drive. I then was able to use this Raspberry Pi tutorial to setup and get my Raspberry Pi started. I used this link to download and load Raspbian. Once I had the system setup I downloaded RetroPie to a USB drive and uploaded it into my Raspberry Pi by using the Download RetroPie link and following the RetroPie Tutorial. You will need to download or have Etcher to complete the tutorial. Finally I had to download the  roms and transfer them to the Raspberry Pi using the USB drive.

After constructing the project and downloading all the essential components, I was able to explore what I had made. In the RetroPie, I am able to play classic and old games that have been forgotten or can no longer be played due to how old and exclusive some of the game systems are. The RetroPie allows me to play games that my father would have played when he was a kid growing up or the games I constantly played and loved when younger. On my RetroPie I have been able to to play games from the N64, Game Boy Advance and Nintendo. It was quite the long road and took time to complete the project and for others also  trying to complete this project I would give the advice to follow the links and tutorials above and ask questions sooner than later if you have any. With this project that I have come to love, I have been able to play against my friends in the retro games bringing back old memories, and making new ones too.
